The Stoic

Ancient wisdom for the examined life. Each day, one teaching drawn from the Stoics, the classical tradition, and the contemplative path — distilled into a single, honest practice you can carry into your morning.

A Welcome from Steven

One Lesson. One Day.
A Life Well Lived.

I've spent decades in boardrooms and hospital rooms, on TEDx stages and meditation cushions, discovering again and again that the mind can be trained to return to clarity. The Stoic is born from that journey. Each morning you'll find a single teaching drawn from the Stoic philosophers, the classical tradition, and the contemplative path — offered in plain language, without doctrine or dogma.

Marcus Aurelius. Epictetus. Seneca. Yogananda. The great orators of Athens and Rome. They were all pointing at the same truth: that the examined life is the only life worth living. This is not about being perfect. It's about practicing one honest thought each morning, in the middle of real life — bills, diagnoses, relationships, and noise.

Let's walk together — teaching by teaching — toward a life shaped more by reason, courage, and quiet joy than by fear.

About Steven Monahan

A Longtime Student
of the Stoics

I have spent decades moving between boardrooms and hospital rooms, TEDx stages and meditation cushions, learning again and again that the mind can be trained to return to clarity, even in the midst of pain, uncertainty, and change.

Through years of study and practice in Stoicism, Buddhism, A Course in Miracles, Jungian thought, and the teachings of Self-Realization Fellowship, I began to see that wisdom is not something we admire from a distance — it is something we must live.

The Stoic is one expression of that journey: a place for reflection, resilience, and remembrance.
